Balance Receives Vehicle Through Partnership with Mel’s Charities and Sommer’s Automotive Group
GRAFTON, WI — Balance is elated to announce the addition of a new vehicle to its fleet thanks to the
generosity of Mel’s Charities and the support of Sommer’s Automotive Group. The vehicle will enhance
transportation services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout
Ozaukee County.
The vehicle will primarily be utilized by Balance’s Health and Wellness Advocate, Shelly Schnitzer,
whose role is dedicated to supporting the health and well-being of residents living in Balance’s Adult
Family Homes. The vehicle will provide reliable transportation for residents attending medical, dental,
vision, therapy, and other health-related appointments, helping ensure they receive the care they need to
live healthy and fulfilling lives.
When not in use for health and wellness appointments, the vehicle will be available to other Balance
programs, providing transportation for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to
participate in community activities, recreational outings, volunteer opportunities, and other meaningful
engagements that foster inclusion and independence.
The vehicle was made possible through a grant from Mel’s Charities and the partnership of Sommer’s
Automotive Group, whose shared commitment to strengthening local communities continues to make a
lasting impact.
“We are incredibly grateful to Mel’s Charities and Sommer’s Automotive Group for investing in the
people we serve," said Jackson. “Their generosity will help people access critical healthcare services,
remain connected to their community, and experience greater wellbeing for years to come.”
