Summer Club Rec Program
Ages 16-17
Club Rec is a community-based recreational program that blends the best elements of Balance’s Children’s Summer Rec Program and Adult Day Program. Designed for individuals ages 16–17 with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
This program supports participants who have aged out of our Children’s Summer Rec Program but are not yet eligible for Balance’s Adult Day Program or other transition services.
Each program day begins in Grafton, where participants and staff come together to review the plan for the day. From there, small groups travel in Balance vans to enjoy a variety of community outings before returning to the meeting spot for guardian pick-up.
Activities are a fun mix of Summer Rec favorites and Adult Day Program classics, including playgrounds, beaches, Blue Lotus, splash pads, talent shows, coffee clutch, and more. Participants have the opportunity to explore local and neighboring communities while building friendships and interacting with peers, community members, Balance Adult Day Program participants, and Balance staff.
Club Rec is supported by a team of familiar, experienced Summer Rec staff dedicated to creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment tailored to the needs of each participant.
This program also offers a meaningful volunteer opportunity for high school and college students. Apply to volunteer with this program HERE.
The Club Rec summer session typically runs from the third week of June through the first week of August, providing a supportive and enriching summer experience focused on independence, connection, and fun.

Balance’s Vision:
All children with developmental and intellectual disabilities will receive support in their growth toward a future they choose for themselves.
They will have the opportunity to explore themselves and their capabilities through hands-on activities that challenge them, in an environment that is both safe and supportive.
Additionally, they will benefit from building meaningful connections with community mentors and volunteers.
