Summer Recreation Volunteers Needed
Every year in July, Balance, Inc. manages a summer recreation program for children with developmental disabilities. This program has been running for 34 years and is heavily dependent on volunteers.
In order to provide a fun and exciting summer program for the 24 kids participating we need about 30 volunteer for the month of July. Most of the volunteers are high school and college age students. Many of the volunteers return year after year because they enjoy the program so much. Volunteers will spend the weekday afternoons one-to-one with the kids attending special events all over the region including parks, beaches, museums, retreat centers and many other events and activities.
This program is supported with funding from the Ozaukee County Department of Human Services, the Ozaukee County Arc and other private donors. Children involved in the program are referred by DHS and are between 5 and 15 years old. Volunteers will spend between 40 and 80 hours of volunteer time involved in the program.
